Something Like Home

For the past 5 years, I have been walking through this place to get home.

Not very pretty

Not very cozy

Yet this place

Where the weather never makes up her mind

Where the Sun and Moon

always oversleep

Is, to me,

Something like Home

In Loving Memory

9th of May marks Russia's Victory Day.

On this day, Fallen Heroes of WWII (1941-1945) are honored. War veterans and family members visit the Piskarevskiy Memorial Park, where during the war, mass burials were held.

Whole families - from the mourning grandmother to solemn grandchild, pay their respects and lay flowers at the graves of those who have given their lives, so they can live theirs.

A Good Read

Girl reading in a Marshrutka (Commercial Bus)

How many things in life can sail you away?

To hold you tranfixed

Amidst the bustling world ?

And while your shell of a body stays

your mind and soul wanders

to that Land shared only by you

and the people in the story.

The Shyest of Flowers

The First Blossoms of Spring

Is it the smell of spring in the air,

Or the chirping of baby birds ?

What made even the Shyest of Flowers

no longer hide

In shadows?

A Lesson Learnt

Some Lessons can Only be Learnt through Experience - Your own, or others'.

Today I learnt
From two separate people
From two separate incidents

Something that my parents
have been trying to tell me
all along.

"Weigh your words"
Now I understand why.

"Always Under-promise and Over-deliver"
I will be responsible
For the words
That come out of me.

Not so Different After All

Horse. Trembling fingers. Maybe we became friends after all.

Hey you
Yes you
Guy with that long face
Did you have a bad day too?

Room for More

The Bus to Imagine-Land

"Get up, Get up here! " they chorused

"There's room for more! "

And I turned around to see Mother

Smiling the most beautiful smile, the smile I loved so much.

"Go on, dear. Go ahead and make some new friends."

But mum, I already have a best friend -
YOU.

Footsteps in the Sand

Maria

Years later

when the winds of change

have wiped away all traces

of us

Will the sand still bear the memory

of our footsteps?

Forgotten by Time

To others, this is Home

Somewhere in the world

In a place forgotten by Man and Time

Is me.

I have not forsaken this piece of Heaven.

Masked

Depressed Bear and Fake Happy Sushi Guy

You wonder who I am

You asked me for my name.

Yet

Don't we all hide behind our own masks?

Little Blessings

Girls at an ice-cream stand

Ice cream on a cool Spring afternoon
and a friend to share it with

We never asked for too much.

The Friend You Seek

Danish Butter Cookies, from someone I've met only once - and never again.

Could it be

That stranger with whom your paths may never cross
Should be the friend you seek?

Or that those with whom laughter is shared
May never stay to wipe your tears?

Flashes of Life

Setting up

I wanted to capture
not that perfect photograph
with the perfect angles and technique

But that moment
That I want to remember forever

Glimpses of happiness that will never escape my memory
That, until the day I die
will flash before my eyes.

Flickering into Life

"You may never know who I am

But you will know me."

Today marks the birth of Living Canvass.
A place in which
I will paint my life in words
and living colours.

I am April.
These are my moments.
